Some Tankas

Still awake I lay
With dark thoughts, can’t close my eyes
Awake I remain
As the world weighs heavily
What is there for me to do?

Love is a whisper
That comes as soon as it goes
Softly spoken words
No place for the deaf at heart
Whispered words soon fall apart

Language Arts and me
Linguistic and symbolic
Twisting inside you
Yet you oppress them away
For some other rainy day

Compassionately
You lay yourself beside me
I smile and you smirk
You know my feelings for you
Perhaps now you feel them too
