An awareness (on foreign shores)

Water’s foul
Tepid, awash in you
Cranium
Flooded streets
Remember
Bleak horizons
Frozen beneath
Frosted within
Each grain of wheat
To fill a tumbler laced in gold
Edges twined
Laces
Nostalgia
Profits
From remembrances
A truth be told, through inflections rough
Connected through the fall of reddened bricks
And mortared tears, a cemetery of those wasted years
Bartered skin, warm to flesh, a bluster inside, begins to grow
A devotional to your mother’s love, the way she shields her children
From a history savaged by a melting pot
Distilling
Cultures glue
Flowing swiftly
As they brew
Thoughts and reflections
A freedom
The elixir
Sifted through
You
