Forlorn and Facing Reconfiguration

I withdrew my efforts months before months before
I am blank canvas, abandoned like the empty mine—still
possessing gold; seemingly, knowledge only I care to know

dust settles and design forms an abstractive patterning—yet, all assurances I can now provide are but trivial, unintentional; only residue, coincidentally shed upon, what once was the bark of pine

I rescinded perseverance, long before long seemed forever far
I am the rusted chain; I am the captive’s scar—so antiquated, a reminder of a past so effortlessly shunned away

dampness stirs alive the cloth—a cloth cares not for futures, of consequence or repercussion; it only does what you ask it to, be that wiping fresh a dirtied slate or offering moisture to an arid face.

I disassembled my entirety, part before piece before part and piece
I am mechanical; calculative—dividing out the old and worn, a sum of parts infused as new, fully aware, some slivers can never be removed.

  1. You know reading this I could not help but think of your relationship with blogger. They seemed to have shunned you long ago and put no effort forth any more, leaving you here all alone, not even letting people know when you post in your zone. I guess that's just where my mind went today under your tent. As stupid blogger likes to screw with you not even telling when a post comes due.

And yeah stupid WV is still on too!

    1. hahaha, that is a great comparison Pat. Fits like a glove, blogger gives me the shove, but I push on lol You know, I looked for the WV spot to do a block but I couldn't find any place that said WV short or long, under the comments it was as always is, how'd you get your WV off.

    2. It's under settings, comments and then there is a yes no near the bottom that says turn wv off and then it goes poof.

    3. Thanks, yeah, I had that new blogger interface thing going, probably how it got there in the first place. Thanks for letting me know, as I still wasn't sure it was removed or not-lol

  2. Wow. The repetition works incredibly well. Excellent piece, Fred.

  3. Great poem. I really love the title, and the device you use here. So terrible, that feeling of uselessness. That last line is fantastic - like a "sliver" of hope through all the sadness.

    1. Thanks Steve, glad you liked the piece, yeah, that last line just came to me as I was finishing it up, I rather like it myself. That feeling of uselessness is awful, guess I've been listening to too much Type O Negative-lol But seriously, I tend to enjoy my darker pieces more anyhow. Again, thanks, glad you liked and for the RT on twitter.

  4. some really great thoughts and lines here...my fav is toward the end...the disassembling of self into pieces...reformed into a new whole....found it very introspective....and give us one little bite in the end of that last line...

  5. beautifully crafted piece. Tercets go down well with me and like the dropped caps also. The content holds much depth. It's almost sci-fi... I've just been watching Matrix sequels and that kind of thing... AI /self aware computers... this kinda brought it back... evocative and poses questions about the human and the self - deep ones
